Musical Intelligence: Listening Questions
- What does this music make you think of?
- Does it suggest colors, images, patterns, or scenes?
- What feelings does this selection evoke?
- What instruments or singing do you hear?
- Are there any repetitive sound patterns the composer used? Can you sing or tap them?
- What portions of the music did you especially enjoy? What made them appealing?
- Can you think of a situation when this music would be especially appropriate to play?
- Does this music remind you of another selection? What is similar to it?
- Can you imagine movement or dance to accompany this music? If so, can you move or dance in that way?
- If you could, would you change this music in any way? How?
- What do you think the composer was trying to communicate when he/she wrote this composition?
- Might the listener hear something quite different?
